Current Opportunities

Are you a technically strong accountant who loves getting into the detail—complex financial reports, AASB interpretation, clean workpapers, and high‑quality compliance work?

Do you come from an audit or financial reporting background and want broader exposure to business services, tax, and end‑to‑end client work—without stepping into people management or pure advisory?

This could be your ideal next move.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting & Compliance Accountant to join our growing Accounting & Tax division. This role is designed for a professional who thrives on technical accuracy and ownership of complex files, delivering high‑quality financial statements, workpapers, and tax compliance outcomes.

Working closely with the Client Director and Team Manager, you’ll take responsibility for technically demanding engagements while remaining hands‑on. It’s a role that values depth of expertise, audit‑style discipline, and accountability, rather than sales targets or staff management.

What you’ll be doing

Financial Reporting & AASB Application

  • Prepare general purpose and special purpose financial statements
  • Apply Australian Accounting Standards to moderately complex transactions, including leases, revenue, consolidation adjustments, and related party disclosures
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements
  • Compile documentation and supporting schedules for audit purposes

Technical Processing & Compliance

  • Prepare detailed reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting documentation
  • Manage end‑to‑end accounting jobs with a strong focus on quality and precision
  • Assist with implementing new standards, templates, and reporting processes
  • Support clients undergoing external audits through high‑quality file preparation

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Identify and address tax implications arising from accounting entries
  • Escalate technical issues appropriately to senior leadership

Team Contribution

  • Collaborate closely with Managers to meet deadlines and manage workflow
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff (without formal people management)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of templates, checklists, and processes

About you

You are someone who takes pride in technically excellent work and enjoys solving accounting problems. You are calm under pressure, highly accountable, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.

You bring:

  • CA or CPA qualification (or near completion)
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in a similar role with strong AASB and financial reporting expertise
  • Public practice experience in business services, tax, or audit
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical outcomes
  • Excellent attention to detail and disciplined workpaper preparation
  • An audit mindset to file preparation—completeness, accuracy, and risk awareness

Experience in audit methodologies and familiarity with Caseware and Xero are highly regarded but not essential.
